In recent days I have been contacted by many concerned citizens about my social media silence in the face of the Recent News. Several of you have graciously reminded me that silence is violence, which rhymes, and that is very helpful.

I first off wanted to apologize. There is no excuse for my silence. I should always be available to speak up on social media when such important issues arise. And my failure to speak is tantamount to treason or heresy or bigotry or bigamy. Maybe all of the above. You decide.

That said, the following are my possible excuses:

  1. I am ill

  2. My kids have not stopped arguing for the last three hours

  3. I have a day job

  4. I was shopping when the news broke

  5. I know almost nothing about this subject

  6. I thought I should research this issue before making a public statement

  7. Since 100,000 people have already said the same thing I would say, there is no point in me adding to the noise

  8. Sometimes noise is violence, too

  9. The only reason I would say something would be to be seen saying something

  10. I didn’t know this thing happened

  11. I don’t think this thing actually happened

  12. I don’t think this thing actually will happen

    And most importantly:

  13. I’m really not that online anymore
